Premier League outfit Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of prolific striker Benik Afobe from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Arsenal academy graduate spent time on loan at Milton Keynes Dons last season, where he scored 19 goals in 30 appearances, before joining Wolves in January 2015. Afobe added a further 13 goals to his tally and ended the season having hit the net on 32 occasions. His form continued in the 2015/16 campaign, attracting interest from various Premier League sides.
With injuries meaning that Callum Wilson and Max Gradel will face lengthy spells on the sidelines, manager Eddie Howe decided to delve into the transfer market in order to bolster his attacking options – sighting Afobe as his number one target.
Afobe becomes the second signing of the month for the South coast side, who also added Roma’s Juan Manuel Iturbe to their ranks (on loan). The Seasiders have also been heavily linked with a move for AS Monaco winger Stephen El Shaarawy.
